who we are and where we come from
Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co. is a Squamish Nation–owned Indigenous herbal tea company based in Canada. This intergenerational family business is led by T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss, Sen̓áḵw Senaqwila Wyss, and Justin Leo, grounded in over 30 years of ethnobotany, Indigenous plant knowledge, and traditional medicinal teachings.
For more than three decades, T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss has studied and practiced Indigenous plant use and medicinal herbs through land-based learning and cultural knowledge systems. Through this lifelong dedication, she raised her daughter, Senaqwila, immersed in these teachings — rooted in Squamish language, seasonal harvesting, and plant kinship.
Passing knowledge from generation to generation is vital to cultural continuity, community health, and Indigenous sovereignty. Today, Senaqwila continues this responsibility alongside her partner Justin, sustaining both the cultural teachings and the operational growth of the family enterprise. Together, they are raising the next generation within this living tradition — ensuring that Indigenous plant knowledge and language remain active, practiced, and respected.
Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co. began as a small-scale cottage business and has grown into a respected Indigenous-owned tea company in Canada. The family shares high-quality, small-batch herbal teas, salves, and tinctures rooted in Squamish Nation ethnobotany and Indigenous plant medicine traditions.
