Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co. is a Squamish Nation–owned Indigenous herbal tea company led by a multigenerational family: T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss, Sen̓áḵw Senaqwila Wyss, and Justin Leo.
For over 30 years, T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss has dedicated her life to the study and practice of ethnobotany, Indigenous plant knowledge, and traditional medicinal herbs. Rooted in Squamish language and land-based teachings, her work reflects a deep relationship to plant kinship, cultural memory, and healing.
She raised her daughter, Senaqwila, immersed in these teachings — learning directly from the land, the seasons, and the responsibilities that come with carrying plant knowledge. Today, Senaqwila continues this work alongside her partner Justin, who supports production, operations, and community partnerships, helping sustain and grow the family enterprise with integrity.
Together, they are raising their four daughters within this living tradition. From harvesting and drying plants to preparing teas and learning Squamish plant names, their children are growing up surrounded by knowledge systems that have sustained their people for generations. The teachings are not treated as products alone, but as responsibilities — shared through story, language, practice, and daily life.
What began as a small-scale cottage business has grown into a respected Indigenous herbal company known throughout powwow circuits, craft fairs, and community markets across the Lower Mainland. Through the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic — including packaging shortages and supply disruptions — the family remained committed to continuing their work.
Today, Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co. offers high-quality, small-batch loose-leaf herbal teas, salves, tinctures, and plant-based medicines grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems. Each blend is thoughtfully formulated using ethically sourced and traditionally respected plants, combining both ancestral teachings and lived family experience.
Signature family blends include:
• Kanaka Ranch — a bold and nourishing blend featuring stinging nettles, rosehips, ginger root, and hibiscus flowers
• Strengthen Me — a mineral-rich formula of stinging nettles, raspberry leaf, mint, and rosehips
• Alongside other well-loved blends crafted to support seasonal wellness, vitality, and balance
Each tea represents more than a delicious cup — it reflects intergenerational knowledge transfer, cultural resilience, and a living relationship to land and language.
Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co. continues to grow as both a business and a cultural practice — demonstrating that true wealth lies not in profit alone, but in kinship, plant knowledge, and family continuity.
